As renowned research facilities such as the Mayo Clinic and UK hypnotherapy clinics in the UK study new and effective ways of employing hypnosis in the promotion of health and wellness of young and old alike, amazing new applications are evolving to help ordinary folk with problems of ordinary life.

The applications of hypnosis seem endless and these are just a handful which may help you realize how safe and natural it is to use in every day life:

  • Hypnotherapy for relief from emotional struggles, unwanted habits such as smoking and gambling, to improved performance and chronic pain and weight management,
  • Dental hypnosis to calm jittery and fearful patients,
  • First responder hypnosis to calm an injured person after an accident,
  • Self-hypnosis and visualization,
  • Group hypnosis/relaxation,
  • Past life regression and exploration,
  • Creative visualization,
  • Functional relaxation,
  • For maximization of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming),
  • For relaxation and enhancement of wellness on a regular basis.

How Hypnosis is Employed in Hypnotherapy

The state of hypnosis allows the hypnotherapist to utilize one of two altogether different, proven routes to resolving subconscious issues in a most effective and efficient manner:

1. Direct Suggestion therapy is an approach which relies on the hypnotherapist providing the client’s subconscious mind with client-specific or goal-specific direct ideas for change and wellness. This approach is ideal for helping people cope with such things as self-development, stress, certain habits, weight, chronic pain and to accelerate healing from accidents and surgeries.

2. Root-cause therapy facilitates the resolution of deep-seated issues a person may be struggling with. This approach, which itself has several distinct techniques, identifies the root cause of the individual’s struggle. The optimal resolution, whether it be re-framing, forgiveness or whatever the individual’s subconscious deems appropriate, becomes clear to the individual. The various techniques associated with this approach, which is the purview of qualified hypnotherapists only, typically dissolves the underlying causes of such things as sleeping difficulties, irrational fears, anger, rage, emotional problems, relationship difficulties, sexual dysfunction, lack of confidence, personality problems, persistent unhappiness stuttering/stammering, anxiety, inferiority complex, phobias, and so on. It is an ideal approach for any issue where there is an emotional factor at work.

A competent hypnotherapist will apply and/or teach a "tapping" technique referred to as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) only when indicated to maximize the benefits of the hypnotherapy sessions and/or teach self-hypnosis and/or provide anchors for wellness, which a client would use throughout their day to re-enforce session work.

Some hypnotherapists use a language style referred to as Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) during the state of hypnosis, which in some instances may also maximize the benefits of direct suggestions while one is in hypnosis; however, many hypnotherapists do not and it seems that some of the most highly regarded and successful hypnotherapists in the world have found that using the client’s "style" of communication is most effective.

A highly competent hypnotherapist will be trained in the use of all relevant and effective techniques, not only to facilitate and maintain the low brain wave state of hypnosis, so a client can change their life in the ways they desire, but to assist a client in identifying and achieving their personal goals of wellness and happiness.

Hypnotherapy Relies on the Client Knowing Himself Best

Hypnotherapy is the only mental wellness therapy that does not involve a "therapist" telling the client what is wrong with him/her, or dictate the resolution required. This therapy concedes first and foremost the client knows himself best and when given the opportunity in the state of hypnosis, he can resolve his own problems safely and permanently.
