Probably the most widely accepted definition of ‘Crimes Against Humanity’ is that offered by the ICC (International Criminal Court). An excerpt from BBC World Service Communicating Justice website highlights the following points which governments have somehow overlooked as BigPharma and BigChema (which are one and the same) continue to poison and lie with apparent impunity.
The ICC’s statute (Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the ICC) provides the most authoritative listing of acts which constitute a ‘crime against humanity’ when committed knowingly as part of a widespread attack or negative action directed against any civilian population. The list moves from the obvious murder, extermination, and enslavement to the one that clearly affects what pharmaceutical and chemical companies seem to be doing to humans, particularly in North America.
Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the ICC states: '....Other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.'
The Rome Statute of the ICC declared that crimes against humanity can be committed in times of peace or during armed conflicts, whether international or non-international in nature. All crimes against humanity, whether during conflict or peacetime are subject to universal jurisdiction.
How Drug Company Actions Fit the Definition of Crimes Against Humanity
At first blush one may feel it a stretch to rank drug and chemical company behaviors alongside those of genocides but the following puts the seriousness of the situation into perspective:
- Drug companies are renowned for their litany of misrepresentations and falsifications of clinical trials resulting in millions of people being damaged or killed by dangerous drugs; the killer drug Vioxx alone has killed thousands of people and it’s maker, Merck is facing literally thousands of lawsuits.
- Pharmaceutical and chemical companies are targeting the most vulnerable of society to make vast fortunes: the poor, the elderly, the millions of school children drugged daily with amphetamines and other deadly drugs for starters.
- Pharmaceutical companies openly fear-monger in television advertisements, hide true clinical results behind claims of proprietary property; advertise known dangerous drugs as necessary and healthy, and cultivate relationships with doctors and educational facilities they know people have been conditioned to trust (Zuger, 2007).
- Virtually every single drug on the market causes illnesses and abnormal behaviors and too often death, yet pharmaceuticals continue to willfully hide and ignore such reports, continuing to sell the same drugs they know are causing harm (Adams, 2009).
- Drug companies and chemical companies, which are often one and the same, have added harmful drugs and chemicals to drinking water (neurotoxins such as fluoride) against the will of the people, suppressed the dissemination of information about highly effective non-drug therapies and conspired in many ways to undermine democracy and therefore violate the democratic rights of citizens of Canada and America to truthful information and informed consent in the matters of their health care.
- Pharmaceutical drugs are now being found in the drinking supply of many cities in North America. In short, increasingly the drinking water we rely upon is being poisoned (CTV News, 2010).
Results of Drug Company Crimes Against Humanity
While millions of people are trusting pharmaceuticals to live up to their claims that their purpose is to rid the world of illness, in fact, this world has never seen so many catastrophic illnesses, many of which were never heard of prior to the marketing of drugs as a magic solution for all ills. Many people are feeling entirely betrayed by the drug companies and their doctors and most especially by what they believed were the watch-dogs…the FDA and Health Canada. Indeed, many people could conclude that with these kinds of results from the drug-therapy model of medical health, drug companies are indeed knowingly and intentionally committing crimes against humanity.
